The Hawley-Form® Retainer: The 5-Minute Chair-side Customized Retainer
The Hawley-Form® retainers come in 5 options for unique and ultimate retention. It’s ideal for retention and can also provide correction of rotation, overbite, overjet, while expanding the arches. The Hawley-Form® retainer only requires nighttime wear, no exercise is required to achieve correction. The Hawley-Form® easily snaps into place and remains secure throughout the night.
Advantages of the Hawley-Form® Retainer are:
- Can immediately be customized in the mouth, at chairside.
- No impressions or additional appointments needed.
- Snaps firmly into place to prevent it from falling out.
- Maintains rotation corrections.
- Retains overjet correction better than other retainers.
- Can expand or constrict arch widths due to imbedded wire feature.
- Can restore rotation relapses.
- Can retain torque.
The Hawley-Form® one-size-fits-all retainer is available in a kit which contains a Hawley-Form® retainer of choice. See above and the necessary materials and tools to customize the appliance to each individual patients’ mouth or on a plaster model. If a lower retainer (with or without an imbedded wire) is needed or desired, it can be ordered at the same time at an additional cost and can be included in the kit. See the Hawley-Form® Instruction Book
Unique Design of the Hawley-Form®
All Hawley-Form® appliances have anterior rotation bars that extend halfway down the crowns of the anterior teeth in order to squeeze the incisors both labially and lingually. This pressure insures that rotational corrections are properly maintained. If the retainer is lost or not worn for a period of time and relapse occurs, the Hawley-Form® is capable of returning the rotated incisors back to their optimal positions — some active daytime exercise may be necessary.
The imbedded lingual wire in the “E” and “A” appliance versions can be expanded or constricted to alter the entire posterior arch width or to individually alter specific areas such as across the canines or molars in either the maxilla or mandible.
